Abstract: | |
Stellar astronomy (or galactic astronomy) is the study of our Galaxy and all its contents. In particular, stellar astronomy investigates structure, dynamics, formation and evolution of stellar systems. Traditionally, for solutions of the most problems in stellar astronomy a large amount of observational and theoretical data should be provided. Examples of such problems are presented here. International Virtual Observatory, a collection of integrated astronomical data archives and software tools that utilize computer networks to create an environment in which research can be conducted, is described in the paper.. We also discuss issues related to data availability, their volume, quality, heterogeneity and reliability. |
