Abstract:
Approaches used in tools supporting ontology reconciliation are generally based on methods developed for database schema integration. However this is not enough since ontologies define concepts whose semantics may remain similar in spite of different approaches to their structure definitions. Recently specific approaches for discovering similarity and difference in conceptualizations expressed in ontologies were described. In continuation of that research, a representation of metainformation for these approaches in the model defined by Synthesis language, which is used for conceptual modeling of subject domains and used as a canonical model for heterogeneous infrmation resource integration. The paper describes how metaontologies, upper-level ontologies, basic kinds of concept mepaproperties, instances of concept classes may be used for semantic reconciliation of ontologies, and represents specifications of such kinds of metainformation in the model defined by Synthesis language.
