The project is aimed at investigation and development of methods and tools for subject domain conceptual modeling in scientific research which are based on development of subject domain conceptual specifications independent on existing information resources, and semantic integration of relevant heterogeneous information resources in the conceptual domain model. A semantics-centered approach to development of subject domain specifications is applied in subject mediator environment as a middleware for scientific problem solving over multiple heterogeneous distributed information resources integrated into the subject domain specifications.

In 2010 within the framework of the project the following methods have been developed: method of domain ontology creation by means of canonical information model of mediators, and method of subject domain conceptual schemas definition in canonical model starting from such ontologies.

During 2011 within the framework of the project the architecture of tools supporting conceptual model creation in the environment of subject mediators has been developed. With respect to the architecture the modules of tools have been implemented. Combined design approaches to solve the problem of choosing of secondary standards for calibration in the field of gamma-ray bursts afterglow in the infrastructure of the Russian Virtual Observatory have been investigated.

Implemented modules of subject domain conceptual modeling tools should be included as a part into the system of integration of heterogeneous information resources specifications into specifications of subject domain conceptual model of the problem being solved.

Implemented tools include tools of searching for specifications of ontologies and conceptual schemas in the metainformation repository, tools of harmonizing relevant specifications of subdomains based on multilevel specifications, tools of building up conceptual schema from knowledge in the ontology, tools mapping decidable subset of canonical information model to a description logic inference systems, and tools for controlling correctness of conceptual model specifications using the description logic and specification refinement.

As a result of analysis of the combined design approaches in RVO infrastructure, an approach to dispersed implementation of problem solving algorithm specifications has been investigated. This approach produces an optimal implementation of the problem solving by selection a way to implement certain parts of specifications either using a specific programming language or a program in the mediatorís query language. This approach is applied to solve the problem of finding secondary standards for calibration in the field of gamma-ray burst afterglow.
